LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – When the Anytime Fitness locations in Lincoln closed their doors last week, members were notified that they could transfer their membership to neighboring locations.
The closest location to Lincoln is in Hickman. The owner there is now welcoming those with Anytime Fitness memberships to join the gym.
“While Anytime Fitness members can access any of our clubs around the world, memberships are connected to a primary AF club location,” Kim Stevenson said in a statement. “Those with memberships tied to the now-closed Lincoln clubs must transfer to a different AF location by December 9. We welcome these individuals to transfer their memberships to our Hickman location & invite them to contact us for assistance.”
Gym members say they were not given prior notice of the closures and found out when visiting their locations.
The Nebraska Attorney General’s Office said people are welcome to visit protectthegoodlife.nebraska.gov to file a complaint.
The complaints will then go through a consumer and business dispute resolution process.
Channel 8 reached out to the Lincoln franchise owner, Kirk Cox, for an interview. He referred us to Self Esteem Brand, the parent company of Anytime Fitness. It has not responded yet.
According to the signs on gym doors, members can email anytimefitnesslnkne@gmail.com for more information on the closure and on how to receive refunds.
